Hello! My name is Roxane Gomez, and I am an enrolled member of the Pit River Tribe of Burney, CA. I come from the Roaring Creek Rancheria in the ancestral territory of the Madesi people. We are traditionally known for our basketwork and rabbit fur blankets. The land, and language of our people is the most important piece of who we are and it is imperative to retain all that we have. Being an indigenous person today means continuously moving between contemporary society, and our traditional culture. I work professionally as a Finance Controller in tribal gaming. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from California State University Chico, and a Master’s in Business Administration for Grand Canyon University. I am a mother to two incredible little beings; Ryder who is 1 and Tuira, who is 2. My fiancé and my babies are at the center of my world. I am raising my little family to value their identity through song, dance, and prayer. The greatest purpose I have is as a mother, and as a teacher of our culture. Thank you.
